Beginners course

Enjoy and experience the beautiful scenery and great off-road riding at Otley Chevin Forest Park and surrounding bridleways. It`s a great way to start to develop the ability, confidence and safety awareness of Mountain Biking for all the family as well as individuals. Instruction is provided by fully qualified Mountain Bike Instructor/Leader in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Course starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm approx, with light refreshments and energy pack included.

During the day the course will cover the following techniques:

  • Bike preparation (Safety checks).
  • Riding position.
  • Correct and efficient use of gears.
  • Braking.
  • Ascending techniques.
  • Descending techniques.
  • Cornering and off-camber.
  • Riding single track and tree routes.
  • Drop offs and step ups up to 8".
  • Basic repairs ie. remove a wheel, tyre, tube and split and rejoin and chain.

All participants must bring their own bike in a serviceable condition (bikes available on request) and the necessary safety equipment ie. HELMET, gloves and body armour if required.
